Love your perspective. Sadness is definitely a part of life if you are really living. It’s important to deal with these feelings when they hit so you can get back into the flow of life with authenticity.

I feel the same way about grief. Maybe one of the components of grief is sadness. When our daughter passed away because of cancer in 2001 we found ourselves in a storm with the waves crashing against the shore and lightning and thunder crashing all around us. As time went on the storm subsided into big waves and then gentler waves. The pain of grief and sadness still came in waves when we least expected it. Now, 21 years later, the storm is no longer there but the sadness visits from time to time.

I think this is true, that sadness is a component of grief. Grief is so powerful and can be all-consuming. I think of you and the great loss your family endured often.
