The results are in!
A few weeks ago, I announced that I’m launching a podcast in early 2024. Today I’m sharing the results from the reader survey where you selected the topics that matter to you. Here are the top three:
Relationships—marriage, friendships, all of the above
Health and Wellness—mental, emotional, physical
Authentic living—becoming more YOU.
For a while, authentic living was the clear winner but the other two topics caught up at the end. It was basically a tie. This makes sense to me, because when we stop performing and practice and prioritize showing up as our real selves, it guides all other areas of our lives.
Other topics that also ranked high: navigating transitions, finding joy, and creating home (where we live and within). These results will impact the guests I have on the show and what we talk about.
How to become more YOU will be the overarching theme that guides each episode.I can’t wait to dive in.
How would it look to become more YOU in 2024? How would showing up as the real you impact your relationships, your health, and basically everything else?
Word of the year
My word for the year is elevate. It came to me after listening to a podcast interview with author and home organizing expert Shira Gill. She says that before you elevate (buy the cute bins and drawer organizers), you must simplify (get rid of the excess). Elevate is the final step.
When it comes to my daily routines and home in general, I’m still in the process of simplifying. Elevating is the goal, and it motivates and inspires me to stay the course.
When I think of the word elevate in broader terms, I realize I can apply this principle to my life as a whole. To me, it feels very aligned with authenticity and becoming more ME.
Do you have a word for the year?
Here’s what I’m going to do differently in 2024
No more multitasking. This may resonate if you have a lot on your plate and all of it feels important.
I create my own overwhelm when I try to do everything at once. For me, multi-tasking always proves counterproductive.
One thing at a time, baby. Focus on that one thing and do it until it’s done.
Thank you to my friend, TV personality, and video coach, Erin Kienzle for this prompt. It sparked so many ideas. What are you going to do differently in 2024?
What’s happening
I’m kicking off my 2024 book tour at the Mt. Pleasant Library tomorrow, January 6 at 12:30 p.m. If you live in the Charleston, SC area, come see me! For more information on upcoming events, click here.
If you’d like to invite me to speak to your group or visit your book club contact me.
Thank you for reading Hello Friday. I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m Angie Mizzell, the author of the coming-of-age memoir “Girl in the Spotlight.” It’s the story of how I learned to let go of society’s narrow definition of success, break cycles of the past, and come home to myself.
We are often on the same wavelength, so it probably won’t surprise you to know this is my year to explore what it means to live from what I call “the fullness of my humanity.” It’s another way of saying, how do I - how do we all? - discover who we are at the deepest core of our selves and bring that self into all we do in the world. These ideas of authenticity and humanity are so important right now. If we honor and love from the core of our authentic self, we take that into the world in such a healing way.
Love that you’re exploring this as well! I listen to podcasts all the time, and I can’t wait to add yours to my list. It seems like a perfect next step for you 💗👏
